David Earl Mathis, age 77, passed away on January 25, 2024 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis, TN. David was born December 28, 1946 to E.J. and Ruby Hitchcock Mathis. He was a Navy Veteran having served in Vietnam. David was a carpenter, and enjoyed cooking and fishing. He was a friend to all and was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Myra Schaare Mathis; his step-daughter, Tasha Carter; two step-sons, Stephen Carter and Nathan Carter; two sisters, Joan Dunlap and Olivia Ann Rush (John); and one brother, Eddie Joe Mathis; two grandchildren, Kylie Jefferies and Cohen Jefferies; and special family friend, Andrew McClennon (Samantha).
He was preceded in death by his parents.
