Durwood Young

Durwood Young, age 72, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at NMMC Pontotoc. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Pontotoc Masonic Lodge #81 and was a Shriner. He was self-employed and the owner of Young’s Appliances.

Services will be at 1 PM Monday, June 10, 2013 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Sims officiating; burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife: Brenda Morton Young of Pontotoc; his daughter: Gale Mills (Joe) of Brandon, MS; one brother: Joe Young (Belinda) of Pontotoc, MS; seven grandchildren: Patrick Benson, Victoria Biggers, Montana Mills, Dallas Mills, Lauren Young Deaton (Bradley), Steven Young, and Braylor Young; four great-grandchildren: Hunter Benson, Grayson Young, Carson Deaton and Aubrey Deaton.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Cordis Durwood “Tot” Young and Cubell Roye Young, and his son: Steve Young.

Pallbearers will be: Patrick Benson, Steven Young, Bradley Deaton, Joe Mills, Phillip Mitchell, Wayne Childers, Talmadge Holloway and Dale Holloway.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Sunday and 11 to 1 PM Monday at the funeral home.
