Evelyn Barton

Winnie Evelyn Russell Barton, age 88 of Pontotoc, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. She was born on April 14, 1928 to Marvin and Hattie Russell. She was the wife of Thomas Eldridge Barton and together they had four children. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed playing the piano and was an active member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her four children, Davis Barton (Sandra), Don Barton (Hoa), Judy Armstrong (Gregg), and Lebron Barton (Cathy); fifteen grandchildren which includes, Phillip Barton (Yvette), Stephanie Guthrie (Mark), Laura McNutt, Bill McNutt (Beth), Dallas Blankenship (Chad), Aubrey Bolen (Marty), Priscilla Howell (Corey), Sam Medley (Julie), Jared Medley (Heather), Erik Armstrong, Tammi Aass (Scott), Hannah Brasher (Justin), Jade Barton, Jeremy White (Kelli) and Kaci White; twenty-nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Hazel Russell and many nieces and nephews. She leaves a life-long legacy of love and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eldridge Barton, her parents, Marvin and Hattie Russell, and one brother, Boyd Lamar Russell.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Marcus Coward and Rev. Terry Faulkner officiating; burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home and on 10 to 11 AM Saturday at Oak Hill Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Harold Homan, Roger Barton, Billy Wayne Russell, Jeremy White, Marty Bolen and Corey Howell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Oak Hill Cemetery, 90 Oak Hill Loop, Pontotoc, MS 38863.
