Gordon Lynn McNeely, age 84, passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2026, while living at the Magnolia at Oxford Commons. He was born on October 25, 1941, to Malcolm and Mary Peters McNeely in Hooven, Ohio. Gordon grew up in Hooven, Ohio, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Monroe, Louisiana. He was a 1959 graduate of Frayser High School and obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Memphis State University. Gordon was an Army Veteran. He retired from the Holiday Inn Corporation, where he served as an accounting supervisor in the corporate office in Memphis, TN. Gordon was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pontotoc. His hobbies included renovating houses and spending time outdoors. Gordon enjoyed many types of music and had quite a collection of vinyl records. He and Wanda enjoyed traveling before he became ill. He had a wonderful sense of humor; he was very quick witted with something funny to say no matter the topic. He always had a joke ready. Gordon was a loving husband and father who made sure his family was taken care of in every way.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 9 AM to 10 AM at Browning Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10 AM, Friday, February 6, 2026, at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken Hester officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at Old Monroe Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Wanda Wages McNeely, a daughter, Robin Boyd (Calvin), a son, Christopher McNeely, two grandsons, Wil Boyd (Ashton) and Brady Boyd (fiancée Lauren Bock), and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jerrie and Jahu Blissard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Doris Eisenschmidt, and two brothers, Douglas McNeely and Gary McNeely.
Pallbearers will be Calvin Boyd, Wil Boyd, Brady Boyd, Roddy Matthews, Shawn Boyd, and Lee Irby.
