Truitt Powell was a great man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. My prayers are with Natalie and his family. I have many memories of Truitt when he was growing up. He was my second cousin, son of my first cousin, Jimmy Powell, and of June Hattox Powell. I lost touch when I was away for many years but always kept up with his activities through his aunt and my cousin, Mary Powell Harkness. Truitt and I renewed contact on Facebook in recent years, sharing many opinions about current events. Rest, Truitt. You left behind a lot of good deeds and you will be long remembered by the people who love you.

I knew Truitt a long time ago. Lamon and I actually didn't live too far away from his home but, for the last couple of years our paths have crossed. My heart broke when I saw that he had passed. It is hard to hold back my tears here at work. He was a very nice man and I know will be missed terribly. Please know that my thoughts are with you, Natalie and the entire family. Praying for peace and comfort. Sheila Graham

Truitt was my childhood best friend we spent our younger days at the swimming pool, shooting fire works, and the best of all was playing on the red clay hills behind his house. We would get so dirty that my mom would make me ride in the trunk of the car and wash us off with the water hose.
RIP my old friend we will see each other again. Tell your mom and mime I miss and love them. Find us some Tonka trucks and some red dirt to play in and I will join you later.
