Jimmy Stegall, age 78, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was born June 18, 1940 to Mederith Stegall and Callie Matthews Stegall. Jimmy graduated from Algoma High School in 1957 and attended Itawamba Community College and Mississippi State University. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, on numerous committees, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school for many years. Jimmy also served on the Board of the Pontotoc Housing Authority and was Co-owner of Stegall Ford in Pontotoc. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc, with Dr. David Hamilton officiating; burial will follow in the Old Monroe Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family with the services.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lora Mae Bishop Stegall of Pontotoc, MS; a daughter, Christi Wallace (Kevin) of Pontotoc, MS; one son, Scott Stegall (Martha) of Tupelo, MS; six grandchildren, Matt Wallace (Kristy), Andrew Wallace (Anna), Jordan, Grayson, Morgan and Evan Stegall; four great-grandchildren, Will, Daniel, Lily and Ava Wallace; four sisters, Thelma Saxon (Rayburn), Sarah Galloway (Bailey), Patricia Priest and Kathy Weatherly (James); two brothers, Charlie Stegall and Ronald Stegall (Pat); two sisters-in-law, Jean Stegall and Jo Stegall; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Alvis and Christine Bishop; two brothers, Joe Stegall and Donald Stegall; a sister-in-law, Shirley Stegall; and two brothers-in-law, Buddy Priest and Ed Bishop.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Matt Wallace, Andrew Wallace, Jordan Stegall, Grayson Stegall, Evan Stegall and Brannon Brown.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Monday and from 1 to 2 PM Tuesday, all the visitation will be at West Heights Baptist Church.
