John David Buchanan

John Buchanan, Thaxton John Buchanan, age 75, died Monday, May 21, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was a member of Hurricane Baptist Church, a Mason and self-employed in the construction business. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Services will be at 11 AM Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Hurricane Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Merritt and Rev. Philip Brock officiating; burial will follow in the Warren Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife: Bivivian Russell Buchanan, one daughter: Debbie Buchanan Murrah and husband Danny Murrah; one son: Timothy David Buchanan and wife Reena Helms Buchanan; five grandchildren: Carrie Murrah Duran and husband Michael Duran, Christy Murrah Knighton and husband Corey Knighton, Emily Buchanan Rayburn and husband Matt Rayburn, Rachel Buchanan and Kaitlin Buchanan; three great-grandsons: Hayden Duran, Cohen Knighton and Gibson Rayburn; two sisters: Opal Buchanan Watson and Ethylene Buchanan Privett and a half-brother: Mike Russell and wife Karen. He was preceded in death by his parents: Louis Buchanan and Hessie Buchanan Russell and step-father: Marvin Russell; and his siblings: Barbara Russell, Duel Russell, Lynder Russell, Laymon Russell, Troy Russell, Leson Russell, Merrel Russell Henson,Luster Russell and Wilma Russell Whitworth. Pallbearers will be: Zuby Parrish, Graden Hooker, Michael Duran, Corey Knighton, Matt Rayburn and Kurt Thompson. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 Tuesday at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at Hurricane Baptist Church. Flowers were provided by DB Floral and Gifts in Saltillo, MS.
