
Kathlyn Purdon Rackley, age 89, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at her residence. She was a charter member of Maple Drive Presbyterian Church and a retired bookkeeper. She was a 1939 graduate of Pontotoc High School and a graduate of Wylie’s Business School in Memphis, TN. Ms. Rackley was a member of the DAR, Cosmopolitan Club, Eastern Star, Pontotoc Music Study Club and the Pontotoc Historical Society.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Maple Drive Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Smith officiating; burial will follow in the Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include a daughter: Joyce Odom and husband Reg of Pontotoc, MS; a son: Mark Rackley and wife Kitty of McDonald, PA; a daughter-in-law: Alice Tumberlinson Rackley of Pontotoc, MS and a sister: Erma Hise, Coco, FL; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Virgil Victor Purdon and Myra Marie Anderson Purdon; her husband: James Calvin Rackley; her son: James Victor “Jimmy” Rackley and a grandson: James Victor “Tory” Rackley, Jr, .
Pallbearers will be: Harold Hodges, David Anderson, Toby Winston, Bruce McCoy, Karl Nelson and Joe Tynes. Honorary Pallbearer will be Bill Galloway.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home and from 10:30 to 11 AM Tuesday at Maple Drive Presbyterian Church.
