Margaret Guinn Westbrook Maffett

Margaret Guinn Westbrook Maffett, age 88, died Monday, September 17, 2012 at her residence. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She enjoyed working in her yard, reading, walking and spending time with her family.

Services will be at 2 PM Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Felix Hutcheson and Rev. Melvin Crawley officiating; burial will follow in the Immanuel Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 72 years: James Maffett of Pontotoc, MS; her children: Sandra Sanders of Hornsby, TN, Hoppy Maffett (Patsy), Beverly Gunter (Jim) and Kim Russell (Kelly) all of Pontotoc, MS; one sister: Ottie Martin (Derrell) of Atlanta, GA, one brother: Frank Westbrook (Sarah John) of Brandon (formerly of Okolona); fourteen grandchildren: Steve Sanders (Courtney), Barbara Rezell (Jim), Joey Sanders, Doug McFarland (Debra), Carrie Lovelace, Rachel Ross (Will), Ben Sanders (Carrie), Becky Sanders, Brady Maffett (Mandy), Cory Maffett (Jessica), Shannon Gunter (Dionne), Wesley Gunter, Garrett Russell and Michaela Russell; eighteen great grandchildren: Diane, Susan, Jennifer, Patrick, Makenzie, Caroline, Sarah, Gracie, Mary Margaret, Meridith, Ellis, Mallie, Marion Kate, Jayla, Ashton, Wyatt, Dylan and Morgan; and three great-great grandchildren: Cooper, Mary Ella and Sam.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles Clifton Westbrook and Mallie Lucille Couch Westbrook, one sister: Lillie Westbrook Kalter and two brothers: Newt and Gene Westbrook.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Steve Sanders, Joey Sanders, Doug McFarland, Ben Sanders, Brady Maffett, Cory Maffett, Shannon Gunter, Wesley Gunter and Garrett Russell.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and from 1 to 2 PM Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church.
