Mary Elizabeth Dowdy Ross

Mary Elizabeth Ross, age 84, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at her son’s home in the Shady Grove Community. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Barnett and Rev. Doug Jones officiating; burial will follow in the Warren Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her two daughters: Patsy Nolley (Larry) and Melissa “Missy” Russell (Chris); her two sons: Dickey Ross (Doris) and Tim Ross (Marilyn); ten grandchildren: Tammy Hall, Keith Nolley, Kevin Nolley, Jennifer Horton, Dana Hitt, Jason Ross, Kim Garrett, Corey Ross, Rhett Russell and Rayna Russell; thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Dewey and Ila Mae Curtis Dowdy; her husband, Collins A. Ross, her sister: Betty Dean Harkness and a brother: Waymond Quay Dowdy.

Pallbearers will be: Kevin Nolley, Jason Ross, Corey Ross, John Garrett, Stacy Horton and Jimmy Hitt. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Collin Horton, Aron Horton, Keith Hill, Matt Hogue, Will Faust and John Ross Garrett.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 PM Monday and from 12 to 2 PM Tuesday, all the visitation will be at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
