Myrtis McCain Gordon, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Sunshine Heath Care in Pontotoc, MS. She was born on August 5, 1923 to Jack and Carrie McCain. Myrtis enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her Bible, quilting and sewing.
Services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Anthony Holmes and Bro. Steve Denton officiating; burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family.
Survivors include her children; Louise Williams of Friendship, William “Buddy” Gordon (Reggie) of Pontotoc, Royce Gordon (Cheryl) of Hillsboro, OH, Linda Bell (Mike) of Ingomar, Edward Gordon (Debra) of Pontotoc, Kathy Terry (Junior) of Centerhill,; one brother, Leroy McCain (Betty) of Pontotoc. She was a grandmother to 25, great-grandmother to 53 and great-great grandmother to 19. Five generations strong!!
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy E. Gordon, three children, her brother, Herman McCain and a sister, Merle Cox.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Gordon, Mason Terry, Johnathon Gordon, Heath Bell, Jack McQuary and Ian Huckaby.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday and from 12 to 1 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
