Neil Montgomery

Murry Neil Montgomery, age 55, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at his residence. He was a member of Sand Springs Community Church. He graduated from North Pontotoc High School in 1975, attended Itawamba Junior College and the University of MS, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.

He taught school for a total of thirty four years. He taught Chemistry, Physics, and at the Alternative School and had been the Pontotoc County Drug Education Coordinator. He enjoyed photography, sports, tennis, chess and spending time with his family.

Services will be at 2 PM Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Sand Springs Community Church with Rev. Charlie Ransier and Rev. Troy Montgomery officiating; burial will follow in the Sand Springs Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his sister: Sondra McGann of Sale Creek, TN; one brother: Tranny Montgomery (Zelda) of Hurricane, MS; a sister-in-law: Jerry Ruth Montgomery; three nieces: Becky Montgomery Tutor, Nicole Montgomery Simmons and Beth Montgomery Wray; three nephews: Nathan Montgomery, Michael McGann and Mac McGann and nine great nieces and nephews: Emma, Ben, Leah, Luke, Dalton, Savannah, Makenzi, Natalie and Stone.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles Thurman Montgomery and Eura Faye Benjamin Montgomery, his brother: Johnny Montgomery and a niece: Natalie Montgomery Bailey.

The visitation will be at Sand Springs Community Church, Friday from 5 to 9 PM and Saturday from 1 to 2 PM.
