Paul Nathan Koon

Retired US Air Force, Chief Master Sargeant Paul N. Koon passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Sunshine Health Care Inc. after an extended illness.

He was born on December 13, 1927 to David D. Koon and Bertha Boxx Koon in Greenwood, SC. He married Harriet Abrams Koon on September 25, 1954. He served his country for 28 years, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His overseas tours included Okinawa, Thailand, and Indonesia. He received numerous medals and commendations while serving his country. After his retirement, he and his wife returned to Ware Shoals, SC in 1978. In October 2007, he and his wife moved to Pontotoc, MS to be near their son. He was of the Baptist faith.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, December 23, 2011 at Williams/Gershorm Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Finley officiating. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Harriet A. Koon of Pontotoc. One son Mike Koon (Janie) of Pontotoc.Two Granddaughters, Kelli and Kayla Koon of Pontotoc. One Grandson, Stephen Jenkins of Tupelo. Two Great Grandsons Kyan and Carter Jenkins. One son in law, Randy Culbertson of Ninety-Six, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Deborah Koon Culbertson. And two brothers, Luther Koon and William (Bubba) Koon.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Memorials may be to a charity of one’s choice.
