Russell Thomas passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on August 10, 1965, to Lyman and Linda Thomas. Russell was a man whose life uplifted others and whose steady presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to those who knew him. Russell was a faithful member of Belden Baptist Church.
A dedicated educator throughout his working life, Russell served as a teacher, principal, and Director of the special education department. Russell was a graduate of Mississippi State. Where he also found great joy in watching all MSU athletics. Most of all, Russell loved spending time with his family.
Russell is survived by his wife, Lee Ann Thomas; his son, Brick Thomas; his brother, Frank Thomas (Shirley); his nephews, Drew Thomas (Josefina) and Zane Thomas (Sarah); his great nephews, Andrew Thomas and Lawson Thomas; and his great nieces, Edna Sanchez and Anna Rae Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lyman Thomas; his mother, Linda Thomas; and his brother, Jesse Thomas.
Pallbearers will be Tony Cook, Tomy Uhiren, Jerry Lancaster, Dwight Griffin, Kevin Harmon, Jay Harmon, and Frank Tackett
Visitation will be held at Belden Baptist Church on March 23, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and again on March 24, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 pm. Pastor Shane McGivney and Bro. Randy Rinehart will be officiating.
