Sammie Otha Warren Sr.

Sammie Otha “Billy” Warren, SR., passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at NMMC in Tupelo. He was born December 29, 1919 to Samuel Warren and Ida Smallwood Warren. He later married Mary Ethel Matthews. He was retired from General Motors where he was a line supervisor. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading his Bible, spending time with his family, and gardening.

Services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Fred Hartley and Rev. Paul Sims officiating; burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his two daughters: Dianne Provine and Anita Warren-Hendrix and husband Dave, both of Pontotoc, MS; one son: Sammie Warren, Jr. and wife Rene of Livonia, MI; seven grandchildren: Doug Haley, Sam Warren, Lee Warren, Matt Warren, Michael Warren and wife Kelley, Stephanie Turner and Samantha Cline; and nine great-grandchildren: Cheyenne Jester, Makenzie Cline, Gemma Cline, Leila Warren, Beia Warren, Mia Warren, Cali Haley, Colby Haley ,Becca Whermann and Stephanie Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother: Clint Warren, a sister: Morine Rice, a son-in-law: Hugh Provine and a grandson: Stephen Earl Haley.

Pallbearers will be: Sammie Warren, Jr. , Doug Haley, Lee Warren, Matt Warren, Michael Warren, Colby Haley and Dave Hendrix.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Saturday and from 1 to 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
