Scooter Ard

Scooter “Howard “Ard, age 81, died Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. He was a member of New Faith Baptist Church and a construction worker. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed gardening, taking great pride in his wood working and mowing his yard.

Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Nathan Hamilton officiating; burial will follow in the Pontotoc City Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Etoyle Harlow Ard, whom he married on December 4, 1964; his three sons: Dale and Rita Ard, of Pontotoc, MS ,Virgil and Julie Ard, of Pontotoc, MS and Barry and Melanie Ard of New Albany, MS; one sister: Dorothy Nell Goolsby of New Albany, MS; five grandchildren: Clayton Ard, of New Albany, MS, Charissa Grissom and husband Lee of New Albany, MS, Hunter Ard of Pontotoc, MS, Matthew Ard of New Albany, MS and Hannah Ard of New Albany, MS; and one great grandchild: Channing Warren of New Albany, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie J. Ard and Ola McGregor Ard; three sisters: Marie McGreger, Fadrell Grubbs and Mavis Shettles and two brothers: Virgil Ard and Boris Ard.
