Thomas D. “Bud” Montgomery, age 90, passed away at his residence on Saturday, January 27, 2018. He was born October 24, 1927 to Gus R. and Carrie Lee Owen Montgomery. A retired dairy farmer, he enjoyed watching the crops and cattle, all kinds of wildlife, and especially his grandchildren. He was a lifelong resident of the Fairview Community, and a charter member of Fairview United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, January 29, 2018 at Fairview United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Corley and Rev. Erin Grant officiating; burial will follow in the Jernigan Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Billye Floyd Montgomery; his sons, Dickey (Patricia) Montgomery and Pat (Jerri) Montgomery, both of Pontotoc, MS; his grandchildren, Hope Alese (Lee) Armstrong, Nashville, TN and Patrick Montgomery of Denver, CO; one great-granddaughter, Lilly Rivers Armstrong; three step-grandchildren, Nathan Putt, Kuristy (Gregg) Bedford and Shane (Jessica) Putt; a step-great-grandson, Braylor Young; a sister-in-law, Lovie “Sis” Owen; and two special nieces, Pam White and Christi Littlejohn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Polly M. Gray.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Montgomery, Donald Ray Owen, Calvin Keys, David White, Michael Montgomery and John Crawford. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee Armstrong, Nathan Putt, Shane Putt and Gregg Bedford.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Sunday and from 10 to 11 AM Monday, all at Fairview United Methodist Church.
