

Wanda Lane Stepp Holcomb, age 75, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at her residence. She was born May 27, 1941 to J.D. and Grace Thomas Stepp. She married Earl “O.E.” Holcomb on September 5, 1959 and they shared 56 years together and were blessed with four children. She graduated from Thaxton High School in 1956 and later graduated from Northeast Junior College with a nursing degree. She worked at the Pontotoc Hospital and North MS Womens Hospital, and later retired in 2008 as Director of Nursing at Roselawn/Graceland Nursing Home in New Albany, MS. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Thaxton, MS. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed traveling and had a heart for caring for others.
A celebration of life will be held at 4 pm Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with Rev. Roger Hunter and Rev. Rocky Watts officiating, burial will follow in Thaxton Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Earl “O.E.” Holcomb of Thaxton, MS; two daughters: Dawn Caples (Terry) of Thaxton, MS and Vicki Earl (Larry) of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Jeff Holcomb of Thaxton, MS; a daughter-in-law:Linda Gail Burleson (Ricky) of Blue Springs, MS; her mom, Janette Stepp of Henderson, TN; three brothers: Dennis Hamilett and Steve Hamilett, both of SC and Terry Hamilett of Henderson, TN; seventeen grandchildren: Brandon Holcomb, Keaston Holcomb (Katy), Kristalyn Cain (Thomas), Heath Tallant, Josh Tallant, Ethan Tallant, Cameron Tallant, Kyle Caples (Shaunda), Kayla Reeder (Chad), Chad Holcomb (Sara), Jennifer Holcomb, Channing Holcomb, Tanna Holcomb, Skylar Gardner, Hayden Holcomb, Trey Earl and Sommer Earl; fifteen great-grandchildren: Charlee Rose Holcomb, Kimbree Cain, Sutton Cain, Cooper Tallant, Clay Pitts, Makenzie Caples, Quint Reeder, Aubrey Holcomb, Jude Holcomb, Jace Holcomb, Presley McMillen, Coltan Flores, Emma Flores, Finley Gardner and Madilynn Gardner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Grace Thomas Stepp, a son, Chris Holcomb and an infant brother, Daniel Stepp.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm at the funeral home.
