Ann was born on May 9, 1941, in Poplarville to Norman Rouse and Jeanette Leftwich Rouse, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Herbert Allen Morris Sr., who passed away in 2023.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Rouse; her son, Herbert Allen Morris Jr.; her grandchildren, Matthew Morris (Tabitha), Scott Morris (Jessica), and Whitney Morris; and her five great-grandchildren, Rylee Morris and Harper Kate Morris (children of Matthew and Tabitha), and Macy Claire Morris, Anna Scott Morris, and Caroline Morris (children of Scott and Jessica).
A proud graduate of Pearl River Community College in 1961, Ann continued her education at The University of Southern Mississippi, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in 1963 and her Master’s degree in 1965. On September 1, 1967, she began her career at Pearl River Community College, where she would devote more than three decades to teaching and serving students before retiring on June 30, 2000.
Ann deeply loved PRCC. She served as an instructor and later as an administrator, mentoring generations of students and investing herself wholeheartedly in the college community. She was actively involved in Phi Theta Kappa as a co-advisor and member of the Policy Development Council, and in 1987 she was honored at the National PTK Convention in Dallas for her dedication and leadership. In 1989, she was named Alumna of the Year, a recognition that reflected her lifelong loyalty to the institution she cared so much about.
Outside of her professional life, Ann was the steady heartbeat of her family. She was the one who kept everyone organized, made sure plans were in place, and brought everyone together. She loved cooking for her family, gathering after football games, traveling with friends, dancing, attending PRCC events, and cheering at Ole Miss tailgates. She had a true “go go go” spirit and rarely sat still.
Ann was a longtime and faithful member of First United Methodist Church of Poplarville. Services will be held Tuesday, February 24th at the church, with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Poplarville.
Ann’s life was marked by devotion to her faith, her family, her students, and her community. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
