Bernadine “Polly” Williamson of Poplarville, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Polly was born on September 15, 1934, in Jasper County Mississippi to Joseph and Annie Mae Wade. She was a longtime resident of Pearl River County.
Polly was fondly remembered for her high school basketball days, a glimpse of energy and spirit that carried through her life. With a natural sense of humor and lighthearted way about her, she brought laughter into everyday life and gave those around her the freedom to be themselves. Flowers flourished under her care, whether growing them or picking them to turn into a beautiful arrangement, and no surface was too ordinary to become a canvas for her art. Her paintings and ceramic pieces were admired and shared throughout the community, each one reflecting her gift for turning simple things into something beautiful. That same spirit guided her work as an activities therapist at Picayune Convalescent Center, where she enriched the lives of others with kindness, energy, and imagination. Throughout life, she embraced the pleasures of each day—bowling with friends, creating new pieces of art, and filling her world with beauty, humor and laughter. Polly will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Polly is preceded in death by her husband, Sam Ladner.
Left to forever cherish her memory are her husband of 10 years, Johnny Williamson; sons, John McIver and Greg McIver; granddaughter, Jennifer Anne Davenport (Jonathan); her great-grandson, Athan Davenport; two brothers; five sisters and a host of nieces and nephews. Johnny, John and Greg would like to extend their gratitude to her nieces, Katie Headrick and Theresa Shelton, who's devoted care, presence and love brought both joy and comfort to Polly.
Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Stuart Shelton, will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, beginning at noon at White Funeral Home in Poplarville. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 10:00 am until the service begins. Burial will immediately follow at Hester Cemetery.
