Billie was born on September 28, 1946 in Lubbock, Texas to Blewford and Lila Fulton York. Family was most important to Ms. Billie. The children in her life was central and most important to her. Over the years, she cared for many children, selflessly making sure they had plenty of food, warmth, and love. She enjoyed social media, especially Facebook. More times than not, she would be the first to “like” a photo or give a positive remark about children and friends in her life. She also loved to fish, even though she didn’t like eating them! On quieter day, Billie enjoyed watching television and working puzzles. Billie York was a “Mother’ to many and will be sorely missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children and best friend, Charles “Pops” High; one daughter, Sherry “Dinky” Cookmeyer; two sisters, Peggy “Lulu” Zilch, Avanell "Dutch" Fortner; and one grandchild, “Baby” Cookmeyer.
