Obituary of David Dorrington Martin Jr.

Mr. David (Dave) Dorrington Martin, Jr., a native of Omaha, NE, previous resident of Slidell for 39 years, and resident of Hattiesburg, MS, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Thursday, November 17th, 2022, at the age of 83. After graduating from Creighton University in 1963, Dave began his over 30-year employment with Allstate Insurance in Slidell, LA. Mr. Martin was a member of the Catholic Church. Dave enjoyed playing bridge, getting involved in his community, and volunteering his time and efforts into the church. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Baker Martin; his children, Flo (Boe) Martin Allen of Poplarville, MS, and David (Wendy) Dorrington Martin III of Slidell, LA; and his five grandchildren, Robert Henry Cerise III of Slidell, LA, Sarah (Richard) Cerise Hall of Hattiesburg, MS, David Dorrington Martin IV of Slidell, LA, Ashley Cherie Martin of Slidell, LA, and Joel Klein Martin of Slidell, LA; and his two great grandchildren Richard Allen Hall III of Hattiesburg, MS, and Charlotte Anne Hall of Hattiesburg, MS. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, David Dorrington Martin Sr. and Kathleen Martin, his sister Connie Ward, and his brother Edwin “Bud” Martin.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 29th, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until time for the Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Ken Ramon-Landry officiating the services. Entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Honaker Funeral Home (1751 Gause Blvd W, Slidell, LA, 70460).

The Martin Family request in lieu of flowers that donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Poplarville, Mississippi. The Martin Family would also like to give a special thank you to his caretakers Hannah and Britney.
