Doris Wheat

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held at the home of her daughter, Denice McKenzie, 7 Highland Woods Drive, Laurel, Mississippi on Sunday, April 10, 2016 between the hours of 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10:00 am at Seal Cemetery, 62075 Seal Road, Angie, LA, 70426.

After retiring from Dixie Electric Power Association in Laurel, she enjoyed working in her flower garden and yard and spending time with her family and friends. She was such a loving, giving lady who saw only good in everyone she met. She shared her love with all that knew her and as she passed from her earthly home to her Heavenly Home she was surrounded by family who shared their love for her. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel.

Mrs. Wheat was preceded in death by her parents Joseph W. Reyer and Edna Mae Varnado Reyer; her husband Dentson Wheat; her brothers Louis J Reyer, James O Reyer, Joseph Edward Reyer; and one sister, Ollie Mae Reyer Currie.

She is survived by one son Dentson (Doris) Wheat Jr. of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Denice (Dickie) Wheat McKenzie of Laurel, Donna Wheat (Richard) Carter of Sims, Arkansas; one brother Daniel Ray Reyer of Petal; six grandchildren William (Kristina) Wheat of Oak Grove, Mark (Joy) Wheat, Myles (Darla) Moss, all of Laurel, Stephanie (Grady) Barrett Byrd of Amite, Louisiana, Britney Carter (James) Martinez of San Diego, California, Taja Carter of Story, Arkansas; eleven great grandchildren, Braxton Moss, Charles, Carter, Kathryn, Mollie, Keene, Lucy, Annie and Tred Byrd, Karlee Stewart, Tinzie Carter; a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
