Douglas Harold Strahan passed away peacefully at home in Poplarville, MS on June 22, 2016, aged 85. Douglas was born September 17, 1930 in Louisville, MS. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris Chaplain Strahan, who was a native of St. Bernard Parish, LA where they resided with their family for most of their lives. Douglas served his country in the US Army and Air Force for 21 years and then later as a Special Agent for US Customs until retirement. He was also ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church and served his community with the Diocese of New Orleans at various churches and hospitals. He is survived by his 4 children, Michael, Paul, James and Sharon; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Special thanks from the family to the nurses and caregivers from Camellia Hospice and Comfort Care for all the hard work and loving care they provided Douglas in his final year.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 17 Bilbo Hill Drive, Poplarville, MS, 39470 on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at the church, two hours prior to the service.
A second Mass of Christian Burial will at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2805 Bayou Road, St Bernard, LA 70085 on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church, two hours prior to the service.
