Doyle Elizabeth Smith

Doyle Elizabeth Castilow Smith, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday July 13, 2018. Surrounded by her family and loved ones, she passed peacefully into the Lords hands with her unwavering faith and devotion.

Preceded in death by her parents Monroe Castilow and Thelma Odom Castilow. Sisters Dolly Rose Ladner and Pauline Ladner.

On January 20, 1958 Doyle married her high school sweetheart and love of her life Joe Mack Smith. For 60 years they shared love and happiness side by side with a business and raising family. Doyle was an active member of Juniper Grove Baptist Church.

With a real zest for life, Doyle was active in the National Cattle Women’s Association as well as the Mississippi Cattle Women’s Association where she was awarded Cattle Woman of the Year. She also served on the executive-committee of the National Beef Council. She loved long phone conversations with family and friends, traveling coast to coast to watch and support her grandsons in their different sporting events. Anyone that knew Doyle knew her grandsons were her pride and joy.

Her surviving family members are:

Husband of 60 years: Joe Mack Smith, one daughter Tammy Smith Neron (Stephan) of Ocean Springs, MS and one son Joey Smith of Sumter, SC. Two grandsons Hunter Steiner of Dallas, TX and Sage Neron of Ocean Springs, MS. Two Sisters Barbara Ladner (Eddie) and Charlotte Walker (Roney). Numerous nieces and nephews.

As a women of great faith, she always put the needs of others ahead of her own, she touched so many friends and strangers alike with her kindness, compassion and love of conversation.

Doyle always lived by the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Do a loving act of kindness, make someone laugh, send a card, give a hug, or say "I love you" to your special friend in her memory.

The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually, but including: Forrest General Hospice , her niece Jackie Ladner Lee , her caretaker, Michele Peterson Smith – family and friends – either through prayer and/or visits, neighbors, and even random acts of kindness through total "strangers". .

There will be a " Celebration of Life Service" at Juniper Grove Baptist Church, 289 Juniper Grove Road, Poplarville , MS on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 4:00 PM with visitation being from 2:00 - 4:00 at Juniper Grove Church.

Pallbearers are:

Bradley Walker, Ricky Mills, Ernie Clark, Gary Wayne Smith, Eric Knight, Corey Knight Loran Ladner, Logan Hester and Tyler Hester.
