Elton Larry Lumpkin

Elton Larry Lumpkin of Poplarville, Mississippi passed from this life into God’s presence on Monday, June 19, 2023 at his home in Poplarville. He was born to Clyde and Alice Lumpkin in McNeill, MS and was a longtime resident of Poplarville. Elton retired from the Mississippi State University Extension Service where he worked as a farm hand and continued to farm, cut grass and ride on the tractor as long as he was able. His sweet voice will be missed in church on Sunday mornings at Serenity Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member. When not at work, he loved watching his grandkids play ball and watching sports and racing on ESPN.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Frances Lumpkin; his brother, Jerry Francis Lumpkin; and his sister, Alice Faye Lumpkin.

Left to forever cherish his memory are his daughters, Alaina (Mark) Breland and Alicia (Mike) Sargent; grandchildren, Tyler Breland, Hunter (Erin) Breland and Conner Sargent; his great-grandchildren, Ryder Breland, Rhett Breland, Adalyn Breland, Kenzi Breland, Lexi Breland, Aiden Touchet and Kaleigh Heath. Elton also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Serenity Landmark Baptist Church beginning at 2:00 pm. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation from 1:00 pm until service time. Burial will immediately follow at Holden Cemetery in Poplarville assisted by Mark Breland, Mike Sargent, Tyler Breland, Hunter Breland, Lawrence Holden and Randy Ladner serving as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The Gideons International to help put Scriptures into the waiting hands and hearts of searching souls!
