Gertrude "Gert" B Waguespack

Lucille Gertrude “Gert” Bourgeois Waguespack, 87 of Poplarville, Mississippi, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born in Paulina, LA on September 10, 1935. Gert had a love of baking, cooking and especially making Christmas candy. She loved fishing with her grandkids. She had a love for music, flowers and spending time with friends.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years who was her childhood sweetheart, Claude Waguespack, Sr.; parents, Vinzule Bourgeois, Sr. and Grace Deslattes Bourgeois; one son, Micky J Waguespack; one granddaughter, Danielle Waguespack; one sister, Mabel B. Lambert and four brothers, O’Neil Bourgeois, George Bourgeois, Nolan Bourgeois and Raymond Bourgeois.

Gert leaves to forever cherish her memory to her children, Claude J Waguespack, Jr. (the late Mary Lacarbo), Sharon Doucet (Wendell), Craig Waguespack (Donna), Roger Waguespack, Ricky Waguespack (the late Donna), Billy Waguespack (Jeanelle), Brian Waguespack (Cheryl), Jody Waguespack (Marsha) and Angelle Marshall (Len); 19 grandchildren, Shane, Nolan, Neil, Shawn, Jacqueline, Emma, Ben, Kate, Christie, Daphne, Ashley, Dawn, Robert, Breanne, Brandi, Casey, Tracey, Caleb and Tori; 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary G. Forsyth and Suzanne Brown and one brother, Vinzule Bourgeois, Jr.

Family and friends are invited to attend Gert’s Funeral Mass on Friday, August 4, 2023 for 11:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12 Bilbo Hill Dr, Poplarville, MS. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are C.J. Waguespack, Craig Waguespack, Ricky Waguespack, Billy Waguespack, Jody Waguespack, Caleb Marshall, Shane Waguespack and Ben Waguespack.
