Rev. Homer Edward Lewis

Rev. Lewis was born November 23, 1924 in Poplarville, Mississippi. He was a retired minister with the Church of God and an United States Army veteran serving in World War II. He was an accomplished musician and a published author. Above all, he was devoted to serving the Lord and caring for his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Dowd Lewis and Lela May Givins Lewis; his wife, Opal Lavonia Lewis; one daughter, Anita Lynn Lewis; one grandson, William Lewis; siblings, Johnny Lewis, Delmer Lewis, William Lewis, Alton Lewis, Naomi Meyers, Colomay Goodson, Vivian Givins, and Ruby Humphrey.

Family members include three children, Edward Lavon Lewis, Tharesa (Terry) Bullock, Thariel Wesley (Connie) Lewis; one sister, Margaret (the late Clifford) Spiers; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Murray Hill Church of God (372 Ashe Rd, Poplarville, MS, 39470) on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Donnie Havard will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and have visitation from 11:00 am until services, Sunday at the church.
