OBITUARY

Jerry W. Reid

July 19, 1950 – September 20, 2021
IN THE CARE OF

White Funeral Home

Jerry Wayne Reid, 71, of Poplarville, Mississippi where he was born and raised, passed away Monday, September 20, 2021 in Picayune, Mississippi.

Jerry was born July 19, 1950 in Poplarville, Mississippi to Scooby Reid and Lena Reid. On March 3, 1978 Jerry married the light and love of his life Alma “Bunny” Reid” in their hometown, where they spent the next 39 years building a beautiful life and family together.

Jerry was an artist at carpentry work and brought dream homes to reality. Jerry enjoyed great music and anytime there was a dancefloor around, there was no doubt that’s where you would catch him two-stepping and dancing away. Jerry was a proud husband and father and some would even say a Dad to everyone, and never hesitated to open his home to anyone in need.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved wife Bunny Reid and one daughter, Melanie Suzanne Nestle, or as Jerry would call her “Susie Q.” He is also preceded in death by his brother Lesley Reid. I imagine they have reunited on Heaven’s dancefloor and will continue to dance the days away.

Jerry is survived by three children, Matthew Wayne Reid, Ashley Lanette Cockerham and Shawna Simpson. Jerry is also survived by seven grandchildren; Halie Nestle, Sydney Nestle, Thomas, Emily, Leah and Benjamin Cockerham and Taylor Simpson. He is also survived by one nephew, Charlie Grimsley.

There will be a graveside memorial service on Sunday, September 26, at 2:00PM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Poplarville, MS. All family and friends are welcome to join as we celebrate the life of Jerry Wayne Reid.
