John Dante Burgbacher departed this life into God’s presence on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the age of 82. He was born on June 25,1941 in Hancock, Michigan to John Ulrick Burgbacher and Lydia Grasseschi. John was a Navy veteran, serving on the USS Intrepid from 1961 to 1963; In law enforcement for 14 years in Michigan and Wisconsin; an Assembly of God Minister from 1981 to 1995; an Apprentice Funeral Director and elected Dodge County (WI) Coroner in 2000. He was a Commander for the Beaver Dam Wisconsin American Legion. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy (Shetney) Burgbacher; and grandson, Joshua Burgbacher.
Left to forever cherish his memory are his wife, Ann Burgbacher of Chuckey, TN; daughters, Dawn (Dan) Halverson of Eagle River, WI and Toni (Lloyd) DeGroot of Poplarville, MS; sons, Shawn (Karla) Burgbacher of Battlefield, MO and Christopher (Lauren) Burgbacher of Oshkosh, WI; grandchildren, David and Danielle Halverson, Kaitlyn (William) Pevytoe, Justin (Katie) Collins, Jonathan Collins and Alysan Burgbacher; great-grandchildren, Mason and Logan Pevytoe; sisters, Anne (Ed) Newman of DePere, WI and Mary (Joe) Rossi of Houghton, MI; and one brother Jerry (Jill) Burgbacher of Appleton, WI.
Toni and Lloyd would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their assistance in caring for John, and Funeral Director Justin Pearson, of White Funeral Home for helping us through this difficult time.
A family graveside service will be held on July 27, 2023, in Hancock, Michigan.
