Joseph Albert Didier, Jr. was 79 years of age and a native of New Roads, Louisiana. He peacefully passed on March 25, 2021 in Poplarville, Mississippi. Joseph attended LSU and USL; he taught Drafting, Woodworking, Mechanical Drawing and History during his 33 years at Chalmette High School. When he retired, he achieved his lifetime dream – a log cabin with acreage; did quite a bit of interior work - designed built and installed the kitchen cabinets, measured/cut the tongue and groove ceiling panels for hanging. He was an avid and intense hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed showing his 1954 Chevrolet 5 window truck at car shows and festivals. He continued to teach those of us who did not know how to fish or shoot. Joseph was a die-hard LSU and Saints fan. He would bleed Purple and Gold on Saturday and bleed Black and Gold on Saints game day. Joseph was also very active in his church community. He chaired the Annual Fall Festival Car Show for 20 years, assisted with the building of the new church, was Officer of Council 15121 Knights of Columbus and is a 4th Degree Member of Assembly 562. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Barbara; his daughters Yvette and Nicole; step-children Wendy Carreras, Jeffrey Carreras and daughter-in-law Jaimee Carreras; his grandchildren Thomas, Gabrielle and Cayden; sister-in-law Jacqueline Didier; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. Didier, Sr. and Ione Baldridge, and his brothers James Donald and David Allen Didier. Final arrangements will be private. Because of his church involvement, donations in his memory, in lieu of flowers, to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Debt Reduction, 17 Bilbo Hill Dr., Poplarville, Mississippi 39470 (601-795-9164).
