Juanita "Nita" Ann Brashear Laiche, age 86, of Poplarville, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2023. Nita was born in Norco, Louisiana on July 12, 1936. She attended, St. Charles Borremeo Catholic School and graduated as salutatorian of her class. Following graduation she attended Business College to obtain secretarial skill training. Nita went on to work for Shell Chemical following graduation. From there, she moved to New Orleans where she worked at the regional office for the FBI. Over the years, Nita enjoyed legal secretarial work and after moving to Poplarville she worked for Williams, Williams and Montgomery law firm for many years and one of the local banks.
Nita enjoyed drawing, oil painting, sewing and working in her yard. She studied and completed extensive genealogy work on her family. She also enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. Nita was a wonderful cook. She grew up speaking Cajun French with her mother and sister and she continued to speak bits of French into her last days.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carmon Joseph Brashear and Regina Breaud Brashear.
Nita leaves to cherish her memory to her husband of 64 years, Adolph "Sam" Laiche, Jr.; one daughter, Lynette Laiche Wesley; one son, Eric A. Laiche (Kelli); one sister, Linda Beber of Saluda, SC.; four grandchildren, Jay Wesley, Shane Wesley, Jessica Laiche Holland and Jacob Laiche and four great-grandchildren.
Nita was of the Catholic faith and she practiced her faith with sincere devotion. She was known in the community for her kindness and gentleness. Nita will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to attend Nita's Funeral Mass on Monday, May 1, 2023 for 11:00 am. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 12 Bilbo Hill Dr, Poplarville, MS. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
