Michael Calvin Smith

Michael Calvin Smith, 67, of Poplarville (Steep Hollow), Mississippi died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the care of his family.

Mr. Smith was a farmer and truck driver. A devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and servant to the Steep Hollow Community,  he was the former Fire Chief of the Steep Hollow Volunteer Fire Department from 1998 until 2010; and a member and Past Master of the Steep Hollow Masonic Lodge.

Mike will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Geneva Smith; and one brother, Charles Pat Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Stanford Smith; one son, Garland (Karen) Smith; one daughter, April (David) Bond; three grandchildren, Carrie Smith, Heidi Smith, and Chloee Bond; one great-grandchild, Taven Poole; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Friends are invited at attend his funeral ceremony at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Steep Hollow Baptist Church, 2336 Highway 53, Poplarville, Mississippi 39470 with interment following in the Smith (Old Steep Hollow) Cemetery with with graveside honors given by the Steep Hollow Masonic Lodge and Steep Hollow Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends and have visitation after 6:00 pm, Friday at the church.

I am so sorry to hear the news of Michael. He will be missed, I may be on the West Coast but know that we are praying and thinking of all of the family during this very difficult time. I can't wait to see him again in glory land !
