Nancy Marie Wise

Nancy was born on December 20, 1948 in Decatur, AL and was a long time educator who taught mathematics at Columbia Public Schools, Columbia Academy, and Columbia Training School. She graduated with her degree in teaching from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS followed by her Master’s degree from University of Southern Mississippi. She served as a Sunday School Teacher to children and young adults at Improve Baptist Church and North Columbia Baptist Church, sang in the choir and sang many solos. She loved teaching, reading, singing, sewing, and spending time with family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Roy and Marie Black.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Steve Wise of Rainbow City, AL, daughter America and her husband John Jayroe and grandchildren Joshua and Lydia of Rainbow City, AL, son Matthew and his wife Ashley WIse and grandchildren Bayly and Brayden of Omaha, NE, her brother Roy and wife Kathy Black and their children Kayla, Kari, and Brandon Black of Montgomery, AL, and a host of family and friends.

Services held at Improve Baptist Church (2979 Highway 44, Columbia, MS, 39429) on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Visitation after 9:00 am, Tuesday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Mac Clinton, Travis Green, Justin Green, Eric Lucas, Bo Prine, and Orren Vasilion.

Honorary Pallbearers are Doyle Robbins and Eugene Blue Green.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Baptist Children’s Village, 114 Marketridge Drive, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
