

Penny’s story starts on January 12, 1966, the oldest child to Nelda and Ray Pickett, who precede her in death. Penny was born and raised in Poplarville, Mississippi.
Penny was a self proclaimed artist and writer. She was obsessed with uncovering her family Indian heritage. She had a green thumb that could grow anything.
Penny is survived by her five children, Crystal Simmons, Kenneth Simmons, Tabetheia Simmons, Kayla (Justin Langlois) Simmons, Zachary Simmons; five siblings, Carolyn Howard, Michael Ray Pickett, Linda Ducksworth, Nancy Pickett, April Pickett; eleven grandchildren; and a host of extended family, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at White Funeral Home (315 Highway 11 South, Poplarville, MS, 39470) on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Poplarville. The family will receive friends and have visitation from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday at the funeral home.
Flower donations are welcome and may be sent to the funeral home.
Donations for funeral, burial, and tombstone are graciously accepted and can be donated directly to Penny’s children or to the Go Fund Me set up by her son Kenneth Simmons.
