Born on March 15, 1937, in Bogalusa, LA, Sally was the beloved daughter of Lucille and Ovied McNeese. Sally graduated from high school in Poplarville, where she played basketball and softball. She married her beloved husband of 62 years, Charles Ray Perry, on August 20, 1958. Sally and Charles Ray made their homes in Bogalusa and Slidell, LA, and, for most of their lives, in their native Pearl River County, MS.
As a real estate agent in Slidell and Pearl River County, Sally’s industriousness and resourcefulness earned the respect and admiration of her clients and the community. Sally’s tough spirit and reliance on the Lord enabled her to persevere in the face of serious illness throughout her childhood and adult life.
Throughout her life, Sally modeled Christlike service and hospitality to her neighbors and loved ones. She deeply cared for children and would always ensure they were fed and entertained. Her grandchildren fondly recall her great cooking and the many delicious meals at their Gran’s kitchen table. She also loved to play ball with her grandchildren and to pull them in the wagon.
As a member of Bethel Baptist Church, she was devoted to hearing the preaching of the Word and participating in the congregational singing of hymns and gospel music to Jesus. She continuously labored to instill the love and fear of the Lord in her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Perry; her parents, Ovied and Lucille McNeese; her four sisters, Virginia “Jinks” Humphrey, Dell Cooper, Emelda Jackson, and Clarice McNeese; and her twin brother, Elbert “Brother” McNeese.
She is survived by her brother, Clarence (Antoinette) McNeese of Buck Branch, MS; her two children, Shan (Bob) Barlow of Ardmore, AL, and Derek (MaryJo) Perry of Pelahatchie, MS; her seven grandchildren, Dr. Katey (Adam) Bjurstrom of Toney, AL; Dr. Brett (Leslie) Barlow of Laurel, MS; Chad (Brittney) Perry of Brandon, MS; Cade Barlow of Huntsville, AL; John and Jacob Perry of Pelahatchie, MS; and Raeanna Barlow of Ardmore, AL; her six great-grandchildren, Wil, Ben, Joy, and Kent Barlow; Karalie Bjurstrom; and Carter Perry; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to Carillon Oaks, Elk River Rehab, and especially Angela Monger-Kerney and her family for their compassionate care and kindness during Sally’s final year.
Family and friends are invited to attend Sally's funeral service on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Bethel Baptist Church, 7451 MS 43 N, Poplarville, Mississippi for 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Henleyfield Cemetery, 5715 MS 43 N, Carriere, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Baptist Children’s Village in Ridgeland, MS; Bethel Baptist Church, Poplarville, MS; or the First Baptist Church of Henleyfield cemetery fund.
