Sarah Jean Bilbo (Rester), 75, of Poplarville, MS, returned to her heavenly home on January 6, 2024, in Picayune, MS surrounded by her family. She was born on February 21, 1948, in Poplarville, MS, and throughout her life, Sarah exemplified a spirit of humility, gratitude, and respect for all. She was a devoted Christian, and her faith guided her every step. Sarah's love and kindness knew no bounds. She shone as a beacon of light, radiating love and compassion to all who crossed her path. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her unwavering faith and caring nature made her a source of comfort and inspiration, always ready to offer loving and encouraging advice to those in need. Sarah had a remarkable sense of humor and cherished the moments of joy and laughter shared with her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Sherry Ann Odom; her daughter, Danene Jarrell (Mike); her son, Stephen Crocker (Loretta); her bonus son, Jerry Bilbo (Sharon); her bonus son, Stoney Bilbo (Patty); 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Genie Rester; her father, Clifton Rester; her cherished husband, Norman Bilbo; her dear sister, Sheila Walker; and her beloved daughter, Stephanie Jarrell.
Sarah received her education at Poplarville High School and went on to dedicate herself to a fulfilling career. She humbly served in food services at Pearl River County Hospital, bringing nourishment and care to those in need. Later, she found her calling in the Poplarville School System, where she served as a teaching assistant. Sarah's warm presence and unwavering support touched the lives of countless children in the elementary school. Deeply rooted in her faith, Sarah found solace and strength in her worship at Olive Baptist Church. Her connection to our Savior brought her peace and a profound sense of purpose. In her moments of respite, Sarah found joy in tending to her garden, delicately pruning flowers, cultivating and canning vegetables, and expressing her creativity through the art of coloring and sewing.
A sacred memorial service honoring the life and legacy of Sarah Jean Bilbo will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024 for 2:00 pm at Olive Baptist Church, 30 Olive Church Road, Lumberton, MS. Visitation will begin at noon. Burial will follow in Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Stephen Crocker, Jerry Bilbo, Mike Jarrell, Matthew Brand, Mike Brown and Ty Osborn. Honorary Pallbearers are Wyatt Brand, Skyler Jarrell and Jared Bilbo.
