Simmie Smith

Mrs. Smith was born in July 29, 1917 in Mossville (Moss), Mississippi; a retired seamstress with Movie Star, Inc. and a member of Steep Hollow Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Larkin Sim and Isabelle Hosey Buchanan; husband, Wilsom Smith; four brothers, Rass Buchanan, Ed Buchanan, Tom Buchanan, Miller Buchanan; five sisters, Ethel Smith, Nettie Gavin, Annie Mae Wade Smith, Deliah Smith Byrd, and Gladis Buchanan.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Ann Rice (the late John C. Ladner) and Carolyn Eileen Fall (the late Duane Wheat); six grandchildren, John "Carl" Ladner, Jr. (Sandy Pardue Ladner), Janet "Sissy" Ladner Miller (John W. Miller), June Ladner (Darrin Ladner), Allison Wheat, Jason Wheat (Kristin Palmisano); eleven great grandchildren, Amber Rae Ladner Henley (Rocky), Samantha Ann Yates Carscaden (Jerry), Colton Ladner, Carley Ladner, Calynn Ladner, Lindsey Wheat, Kelly Wheat, Emily Wheat, Conner Wheat, Paul Miller (Martha Miller), Christine Miller Parks; eight great great-grandchildren, Jessica Parks, Alyssa Parks, Paige Miller, Carsen Miller, Alex Carscaden, Kalie Carscaden, Katlin Carscaden, and Alvin Carscaden.

Graveside services were 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Smith Family (Old Steep Hollow) Cemetery with Reverend Harry Davis of Crane Creek Baptist Church in Perkinston officiating.
