Stephen A. Svatko, 61, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Born September 2, 1965, in San Diego, California, He built a life defined by steady devotion to family, a strong work ethic, and a quiet readiness to do what was right when it mattered most.
Steve lived in Bonita, California, where he worked in the family restaurant and became known for making the best shrimp. A true sportsman at heart, he loved and played football, and he carried that same spirit of teamwork and loyalty into the many friendships he formed over the years. He also found joy in the open road and open sky—traveling, boating, camping in the desert, and flying planes.
At age 21, Stephen met Lisa Svatko, and together they moved to Temecula, California, where they raised four beautiful children. Among the moments that spoke most clearly to who Stephen was, one stands with particular meaning: he saved a police officer’s life and received a letter of thanks—an act of courage and selflessness when many would have been afraid to step in. He was a hero.
Steve worked in commercial HVAC for 30 years before retiring in 2019 to Poplarville, Mississippi. In retirement, he embraced the country life and treasured time spent around his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed watching his son play football, proud and present for the moments that mattered. Stephen was loved by everyone he met.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Alex Svatko, and his mother, Margaret Svatko.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Svatko; his daughters, Kelsey Svatko, Laura Ane Svatko, and Kaylee Svatko; his son, Kaden A. Svatko; his sisters, Kim Ashley and Rekha Jackson; his brother, Mike Svatko; and his grandchildren, Rayleigh, Makenna, Adalynn, Austin, and Phoenix.
A Celebration of Life for Stephen is planned for 10 am, Saturday, November 21, 2026, at the Barn Church at 11057 Hwy 11, Poplaville, Mississippi.
