Sylvia M Barnes

Sylvia M Barnes, age 75, of Poplarville, Mississippi passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022. Sylvia was born July 20, 1946 in McNeil, Mississippi. She was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church since the early 60's. Sylvia was very active in her church and in the community outreach and was a faithful choir member, she truly loved her church and church family. She would always cook for the church and do meals for the families of the church in their time of need.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Hubert W. and Effie Spiers; husband, James Barnes; one son, Tim Barnes and her siblings, George, Daniel, Roland, Cooter, Guy, Belia, Ruby Dell and Virginia.

She is survived by one granddaughter, Samantha; one grandson, Calvin; one great-great grandson, Nicholas; one sister, Lena Walker and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend Sylvia's funeral services on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at noon, at Bethel Baptist Church, 7451 MS-43, Poplarville, MS 39470. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Officiating the services is, Bro. Billy Kent Smith.
