Annie (nee Kereiff) Kalugin

Annie is predeceased by her father Peter Kereiff and mother Marta Kereiff (Maloff). Also by her beloved husband Tony Kalugin, sister Polly Sawchenko, brother Mike Kereiff, and niece Marcia Devitt.

She is survived by her children Steve Kalugin (Barb) and Julia Ursic (Dario). Annie was lovingly called Baba by her 4 surviving grandchildren Chrissy Alarie (Kyle), Traci Nikota, Holly Dibnah (Andrew), Jesse Ursic (Michayla); great grandchildren Hunter Alarie, Mackenzie Alarie, Emerson Nikota, Jack Nikota, Liam Ursic, Bauer Ursic, Darrion Kurath (Steven); great-great grandchildren Dayton and Piper Kurath; also relatives in Castlegar, many nieces and nephews from all over, and her great-granddog Kai.

Annie and Tony met in Castlegar when Tony did a motorcycle trip to the interior. THey dated, fell in love, married, and resided in Port Alberni where they enjoyed their life together until Tony passed away in 1982. In the past, Annie enjoyed gardening, flower planting, bowling, and watching the Blue Jays baseball games. Not to forget to mention, she also loved going to the "ding ding room" occasionally, when she was feeling lucky.

Four years ago, Annie moved to Abbeyfield Retirement Home, where the residents, staff and care-aides became her second family. Annie loved living there making best friends, playing Bingo, doing jigsaw puzzles, and the beautiful comradery there. We would like to thank everyone who has touched her life and taken care of her, for many years, Annie's family, friends, doctors, ER physicians, nurses, care-aides, hospital staff, and Abbeyfield staff (friends) and all those at VIHA.

A family graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, December 5th at Greenwood Cemetery in Port Alberni. Afterwards, a celebration of Annie's beautiful life will be held for all who wish to attend, at 1:00 PM the Kin Hut Hall, 4102 Hollywood St. (the smaller building at the fair grounds)

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Abbeyfield Retirement Home, the WCGH Foundation, Kinsmen Foundation of BC, or the BC Children's Hospital.
