It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Beverley Evelyn Lacey, who left us peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by loved ones at West Coast General Hospital.
Bev was loved and will be missed by her adoring husband of 65 years, Gerald, daughter Sandra (Larry), son Brad (Leanne), grandchildren Gerritt (Kelsey), Ves (Dan), Katelyn, Sarah (Adam), and great-granddaughter Andi. She is also survived by wonderful sisters and brothers-in-law Irene, Joyce, Nancy, Clarence (Theresa), and Lorne (Barb), several cousins, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Bev was born on October 14th, 1932, in New Westminster, British Columbia, to Duncan and Florence Campbell and was part of the best family. Bev was kind, caring, and had a knack for making anyone feel special and welcomed. These strengths and attributes led her to the Royal Columbian School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1954 and was very proud. She worked as a nurse for over 35 years; it was not just a career for Bev, but a way of life, with most of her time spent at the old West Coast General Hospital.
Bev loved all of her grandchildren and would do anything for them. She attended many school events and was often present at the activities they signed up for.
Bev was a great communicator. Whether by phone, paper, or in person, she was the keeper of the family calendar. At the age of 85, she learned to text and FaceTime, mastering the art of the emoji. We could expect notifications of all kinds: Canucks or BC Lions games, or sometimes just a simple “what’s up?”
Bev has gone to a much better place and will be happy to see her sister Doreen and all of her family and friends. She will be a very busy lady who will keep a watchful eye over all of us.
We would like to thank all the special people who became a part of our lives this last week. We appreciate you all, and your dedication and compassion were unwavering, from our two paramedics to all the nurses and care aids, Dr. Hudson, Kelly, Dr. Smit, and Gail. A very sincere thank you to Dr. Williams; you were so amazing and respectful. We are so grateful for your impact on us; you have no idea.
No formal service will be held at this time; instead, the family will celebrate her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the First Open Heart Society of B.C, if you wish.
Until we meet again, you will be in our dreams and we will feel you in our hearts; our beautiful wife, mom and grandma.
