Chris was one of those rare people who lit up every room he walked into. Chris was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, to his mother Monica and father Clarence with his stepmom Connie, brother Tim, and aunt Teresa. He later moved to Port Alberni, BC in 2010, where he quickly made an unforgettable mark on the community and everyone who knew him.
Chris had a huge personality-he loved to laugh, to joke and to make others smile. Whether it was random kisses, thought-out scares or flexing a funny pose, he had a gift for turning ordinary moments into one’s people would never forget.
Sports were a big part of Chris’s life where he met most of his closest friends. He played slo-pitch for many years, shot perfect games of pool and threw a mean game of cornhole where he seemed to win as much as he laughed. His nickname “Crispy” or “ChrisP” was born on the ball diamond, and from there he became a fixture on multiple teams, always the guy who made the game more fun.
Chris was also a family man at heart. Where he met Nikki in 2018, his world changed. Together, they shared an inseparable bond-one filled with adventures, concerts, road trips, hockey games, and endless laughter, Chris embraces Nikki’s children, Jadyn, Kaleb, and Aria who he loved as if they were his own. He taught Aria how to swim without a life jacket, ride a bike without training wheels, skate, read and celebrate every milestone right alongside them. Later, he opened his heart even wider, loving Bellamy.
His love for animals was just as strong. Chris and Nikki’s home was filled with dogs and cats, each one loved deeply. He even rescued a calico cat and named her Calika, later raising one of her kittens, J-Qualin, (spelled Jacqueline).
Chris was also a hard worker and a proudly talented cook. He spent years in kitchens and was a familiar face at the Smoke Stack, where his mustache became part of his signature look. He also worked as security around town, bringing humor, and larger-than-life presence wherever he went. He thrived, being center of attention-whether it was playing “Beer Boy” at Liz and Chris’s wedding, belting out songs at concerts until he lost his voice, or just goofing around at a party. Chris loved to live in the moment, and people loved him for it.
In the weeks before his passing, Chris spoke about wanting to turn a corner ready to get sober, settle down, and embrace life fully. More than anything, he wanted more family-Nikki and the kids-close to him. Nikki was the love of his life, the only one who gave him butterflies, and to her, he was the same.
Chris was truly one of a kind, He had the biggest heart, the loudest laugh, and a soul that touched so many lives. He was hilarious, kind, open and unapologetically himself. Everyone loved him for exactly who he was.
We will miss you more than words can ever say, Chris. Thank you for all the love, laughter, and memories you gave us.
