Dorothy was born on January 27, 1929, in Prince George, BC, to Agnes McIntosh (Barrett) and Willis Ellsworth McIntosh. Sadly, she was preceded by her six siblings: Letitia Ackley, Bill McIntosh, Corra Brynelson, Gloria Brynelson, Betty Nordentoft, and Tina Coyle. Dorothy was also predeceased her son, Daryl Larsen, son-in-law Gary Holmes, husband Albert Larsen, and grandson Graham Holmes.
Dorothy is survived by her children Bob Larsen, Bill Larsen, Fern Holmes, and Minnie Hornidge; her grandchildren Kevin, Nathan, Trina, Justin, Stuart, Niki, Deserie; and her great-grandchildren Sydney, Hayley, Jaxon, Ryder, Olivia, Ashton, Benjamin, Rachel, Emily, Callie, and Indy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Many people in Ucluelet have spoken highly of Dorothy describing her as a true role model who lived and aged independently with grace and determination. At 90 years old she was still wielding her power saw to trim her trees. Her kitchen table was always a place of lively conversation and memories shared. Dorothy’s love and support for family is a treasured gift.
We also appreciate the doctors, nurses, health aids, and caregivers who provided her with the best care during her final months in the hospital and at home. And of course, we’re so touched by the kindness and generosity of those who visited or sent her love, friendship, and prayers.
As we bid farewell to Dorothy into the loving care of God’s presence we carry her, our mom, grandma, aunt and dear friend with us in our heart.
Dorothy’s remarkable 96-year life will be celebrated in May of 2026.
