Dot leaves behind her husband Dave West, daughters Paulene Rice and Liana West (grandchildren: Nathanial Ward, Zack Ward, Noah, and Elly Ward) and son, Darrin West (Karen West Farmilo) who are heartbroken.
As you know in these last months Dot has been enjoying her time on her new tablet and especially connecting with friends through Facebook. Until the end Dot kept up her cheerful cheeky spirit ( "What's up kid?"; "No sense complaining, no one’s listening!””Luv ya!"); and care and love for all of us. She was always there for anyone who needed her help, and she really enjoyed visiting with all her wonderful friends who came to see her at Hospice.
She wanted to tell you all that wherever she is now (We are guessing Rock Hounding in Heaven), she will be with you when you need her; to give a tight hug, or a swift kick in the butt. Whichever you need most.
In lieu of flowers Dot really wanted her family and friends to donate on her behalf to the Port Alberni Ty Watson Hospice House (https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/3229 ) whose wonderful nurses, doctors and volunteers have treated her "like a queen". Her family would also like to thank everyone at Hospice for their incredible care over the last six months.
Dot loved her life and all of us. She loved this idea too...
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!”
(Hunter S. Thompson)
That sure was Dot.
Goodbye Dot.
We love you always and will not forget you.
XOXO
