Enrico Stefani

Enrico Stefani passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 with family by his side at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by 3 brothers (Lido, Francesco and Vando Stefani) and 1 sister (Marietta Lazzareschi). Enrico is survived by Norma, his loving wife of 54 years of marriage, children; Moreno (Kathy) Stefani and Tiziana (Joshua) Hespe; grandchildren Madeline and Sophia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Segromigno, Italy, Enrico came to Canada in 1954. In search of work, he travelled across Canada and finally found his home and career in Port Alberni at the Plywood mill where he worked for over 30 years. His love of sweets earned him the nickname of “The Candyman” among his fellow workers.

In 1957, his childhood sweetheart Norma joined him in Canada and the two were married. He always remained true to his roots and was a longstanding member of the Italian Canadian Society. Enrico enjoyed playing Bocce and cards as well as growing his well renowned garden. Enrico also loved to walk and made many friends along the way.

Prayers will be held at 7:00pm, Friday, February 24th, 2012 from the Chapel of Memories, 4005 - 6th Ave with a Funeral Mass to take place at 1:00pm, Saturday February 25th at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Rd with Father Stephen Paine officiating. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Enrico’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, PO Box 255, Port Alberni, BC., V9Y 7M7
