Gordon Murdoch Mowat

MOWAT; Gordon Murdoch – It is with profound sadness and loss that the family of Gordon Mowat announce his sudden and unexpected passing at his home on Sproat Lake on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 62 years of age.

Predeceased by his parents James and Kathryn Mowat, Gordon is survived by his beloved wife Aveleigh, children: Rainor (Natalia), Karlan (Samantha) and Kea, grandchildren: Aslynd, Ari, Blysse and Thorfinn as well as one sister Beth Spence (Stewart), one brother Don Mowat, many other relatives and too many friends to count.

Raised on the island, Gord had a profound love of family, water and the wilderness. He spent much of his time on the water in his tugboats, at home on the lake or down at Ecoole. When not working, Gord has enjoyed hunting, fishing, watersports, baseball, hockey, snowboarding and skiing; his visits to Orkney; and keeping in touch with family and friends on his computer.

A celebration of Gordon’s life will take place at his home on Sproat Lake on Saturday August 2, 2014 from 2:00 until 5:00pm. Cremation has taken place. Stories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.chapelofmemories.ca.
