Harry Duncan "Duncan" Abra

Abra, Duncan passed away in Port Alberni on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the age of 67.

Survived by loving wife Sylvia; children, Pat (Robin), Pam, stepdaughter Nicol (Hans); grandchildren, Liam, Katrina, Emma, and Ethan; siblings, Haddy (Heidi) and Lynn; as well as nieces and nephews.

Born on July 9, 1944, Duncan grew up on the lower mainland. He joined the Signals Corp of the Canadian Military as an apprentice boy soldier at the age of 16 and stayed with the military for 21 years. After retiring from the military he was hired on with Telus in the microwave telecommunications field where he taught and then worked in Management on the north coast. In his younger years he practiced his love of the outdoors by hunting and fishing in many parts of Canada. On his retirement, gardening became his passion and his joy. Even during winter, the garden was active and growing things and plans were being formulated as to the growing year ahead. Along with his garden, he adored Buddy and Pal his feline companions.

A family memorial will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the SPCA would be appreciated.

dunc with bro addy was one of many of my boy soldiers who i am proud to have been one of his mentors of the radio mechanic,s course back in the school /sigs in 50/60,s the they all became someone who i was always greatfull later to have work with me on UN / NATO / BUNKER ect condolence to SYVILIA and PAM who may remember her dad working on TV sets while FREDA babysat SWAMPY LaPOINTE
