Tardif, Hector passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at West Coast General Hospital with family by his side at the age of 86.
Predeceased by his sister Pauline; Hector leaves loving wife of 59 years, Carmen; children Leon, Larry (Karen), Dan and Ron (Tanya); 7 grandchildren and 5 siblings.
Hector came to Port Alberni and worked at the Somass mill for a short time before being hired at the Paper Mill for construction of some of the machines. He was then hired permanently as a millwright and worked at the paper mill for 32 years. Active in the Knights of Columbus, curling, and seniors ball, he also enjoyed gardening and playing crib. Hector took an active role in his sons sports by coaching hockey and ball while they were involved.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, April 4, 2014 from Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, 4731 Burke Road, with Father Stephen Paine officiating.
