Irene Donna Sundstrum

We are heartbroken to share that our beautiful matriarch died in Port. Alberni from cancer at the age of

74 years. Predeceased by daughter Becky Lebrun-Sundstrum. Survived by loving husband of 53 years Arne; children Korey (Alison), Karen (Steve); grandchildren Jennifer (Gerrit), Alycia, Dylan (Caitlyn), Kyle,

Chelsey, Jocelyn and Ethan; great-grandchildren Greyson and Abbey; brother Tom; nephews David and

Gregory as well as extended family Ivan and Eddy.

Born on the mainland, growing up in East Vancouver, Donna moved to the island with her family as a

teen. She met Arne through a mutual friend at a Grey Cup Party. The couple married and soon got their

own place at the Lake. Her genuine interest in people and gentle nature, endeared her to all who knew

her. She took pride in creating a warm and welcoming home, for family and friends. A smart and curious

life-long learner, Donna had a keen interest to always know more.

Grammy found joy spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, making time to cheer

them on in sports, dance or at school and family events. She laughed easily and was a kind, loving and

loyal friend to animals and people. As an accomplished gardener and lover of plants, time with her

hands in the soil brought mom much delight. She was an avid curler and twice went to the provincials.

Recently she found yoga and Reiki helped her gain strength & balance.

Donna will be remembered for her ability to make everyone feel special and her huge capacity to love.

Due to COVID a public gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send wine!
